A Cool Time Management Tool
By Glenn Andrew on Apr 1, 2008 in Business Development
On a recent teleconference call, Don Crowther shared a time management tool that he learned and uses. Here is how I use it:
Get your hands on a countdown timer, like the kind you can find in the kitchen section of your local department store. Make sure it’s one that counts down from a preset time. Set it for 48 minutes. During that 48 minutes I concentrate solely on the task at hand; I don’t answer the phone, I don’t check email, I don’t get something to drink. I just concentrate on the task. When I notice the timer is getting close to zero, I’m motivated to work that much harder. Finally when the timer sounds, I use the next 12 minutes to take messages, check email, get something to drink, whatever. When I’m ready to continue, I set the timer for another 48 minutes and repeat the process.
I find this keeps me on track and my hours tend to be very productive! Hope this helps you with your time management issues!
